I watched the Tim Burton “Alice in Wonderland” this week and somehow these bromeliads remind me of the movie. Unlike the Disney version, this interpretation of “Alice” is complex and in some ways dark as well as very funny. It’s like a more adult version of life. In the same way, these bromeliads take center stage with their fuchsia throats against lime green leaves, but if you look closer there are all kinds of other plants and debris sharing the stage. These plants are not perfect or a cartoon version of themselves, but they still manage to be viewed as beautiful and special while fitting into a very diverse community.

This weekend remember how complex and special you truly are, and thank your community for allowing you to be so.
