Isn’t she pretty? While these look like flowers, they are actually the leaves of a succulent. Because it does not have spines, it is probably an old world succulent. That’s all I know book-wise about this plant, but from watching it I know it does not like a lot of water, likes sun, will grow on rocks or between sidewalk cracks, and requires no care to thrive and reproduce. As a Christmas present last year I potted a variety of succulents for my friend to use on her pool patio during the dry winter months. I told her this was a temporary way to add color and texture, but when the summer rains came they would probably die from too much rain water.
This is what one of the pots looks like after a year and lots of summer rain.
So this just proves what I’ve said all along…I have no idea what I am doing, but since I have done it for a very long time, I end up with lots of success. And yes, there is also a bromeliad in the pot. I put it there so something would be alive when the succulents drowned.
