I don't know the name of this orchid. It is fairly ordinary and common. Almost everbody would recognize it as an orchid...proms and all. But two things are important to me about this orchid.




One, I never expected it, but there it was in full glory hanging un-cared for on my fence when I returned home from vacation. I just love unexpected beauty.



Two, it reminded me that even in the midst of exhaustion and chaos and travel away from home there is a calming influence if we just take the time to notice. This orchid wasn't hidden but it was also not easily noticeable. My intentions were as important to finding it as its gift of blooming was to being noticed and found.
